Where Main Street Meets The Mountain

Block Number: 3

The block is located at 67 West Henderson Street in historic downtown Marion, North Carolina on the western face of the Farmers Tailgate Market. This block, installed on September 11, 2009, was the first certified block to be established on the McDowell Quilt Trail.

The blocks design was inspired by the City of Marions logo created as part of a marketing initiative to promote downtown as a destination. The blocks border represents “Main Street” and the three blue mountains in the forefront represent “the Mountains”. The three shades of blue are representative of the colors in the original logo design.

"Where Main Street Meets The Mountains" and "The Grape Basket" are lit, allowing beautiful viewing at night.

Mike and Jill Lucas donated "Where Main Street Meets The Mountains" which represents the citys location in the foothills of the Blue Ridge.
